Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup black licorice syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Black food coloring optional
- Chopped black licorice candies for garnish optional
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar over medium heat
Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is heated through, about 5 minutes
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly
Stir in black licorice syrup, vanilla extract, salt, and black food coloring if using
Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturers instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency
Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm
Serve scoops of black licorice ice cream garnished with chopped black licorice candies if desired
