Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Sea salt flakes, for sprinkling
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375F 190C
In a food processor, combine the flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt
Add the cold, cubed butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs
Gradually add the cold water while pulsing, just until the dough comes together
Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth
Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness
Using a round cookie cutter, cut out circles that will fit into your mini pie tins
Press the dough circles into the mini pie tins, trimming any excess dough
Prick the bottoms of the dough with a fork to prevent air bubbles while baking
Bake the pie crusts in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until they are firm to the touch
Let them cool completely
Once the pie crusts are cooled, spoon a layer of salted caramel sauce into each crust
Sprinkle a few chocolate chips over the caramel layer
Drizzle a bit more salted caramel sauce over the chocolate chips
Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes over the caramel and chocolate layers for added flavor
Chill the mini pies in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set the caramel and chocolate
Serve the mini salted caramel chocolate pies as delightful, bite-sized treats
